Step into an evening of inspiration at the gallery of art’otel Amsterdam on January 10th, as we present With One Eye Open—a unique exploration of graffiti culture through the lens of documentary filmmaker Jonathan Pieterse.
Curated by Jasper van Es as part of the With One Eye Open exhibition, this event invites you to discover rare and intimate perspectives on graffiti photography through four compelling short films:

Jonathan Pieterse (1994, NL)
Jonathan Pieterse is a Dutch filmmaker and photographer based in Amsterdam. By blending realism with aesthetic
cinematography, he brings a raw yet poetic touch to documentary filmmaking. He began by documenting graffiti culture, telling
the stories of artists and their landscapes. Over time, his work evolved into a broader exploration of human identity.
With a self-taught foundation complementing his Bachelor of Arts degree, Jonathan worked for VICE News, where he further
developed both his artistic and journalistic approach. In 2023, his film City – Work of Fiction won the Best Short Film award at
Blind Walls Film Fest, showcasing his ability to intertwine art and documentary storytelling.
