Artist Highlight
Marco Galmacci, known as Morcky, is an Italian creative who lives and works in Barcelona. Raised in the graffiti world and educated in mathematics, his work has expanded to explore illustration and animation, defining an artistic path where his passion for instinctive drawings and dynamic compositions interwinds with emotional intimacy and noir atmospheres.
Morcky has exhibited his work in museums, walls, festivals and galleries in more than 15 countries around the world and is one of the founders of the Savants project.
Robin Kaptein (1992), a stained glass artist from Amsterdam Noord, brings a fresh perspective to a traditional craft. His vibrant work draws inspiration from nature, Amsterdam’s cityscape, and abstract art, blending classic techniques with modern themes. From his studio in Noord, Robin creates striking panels and installations that capture the interplay of light and color, reinvigorating stained glass for a new generation
As everything in the universe is always in motion and vibrating in its own frequency, something can appear still but it never is. Niels Weerheim is in pursuit of a neverending attempt to capture the movement. The tension between the intention of creating the visual and the already-knowing it is impossible always keeps him challenged of coming as close as possible.
The way he puts the paint on canvas is very intuitive. Like the motion that is moving the world, there is a confrontation with the unexpected which brings new surprises. Sometimes pleasant, but also very honest and confrontational. A moment where nothing between comes between the inspiration from the inner and outer world and the paint taking forms. Like a mirror what you see is what you are, he encourages the audience to see for themselves what it is and have a unique experience.
The moment the painting is done there is already something of the past, it is a memory. In his newer works, he added extra dimension by cutting the base layer in multiple parts with different angles and levels. It is the embodiment of memory because memory is always different in your head than the actual event that happened. We as humans tend to see things more beautiful or more ugly as things happened or will happen. It is a human trait of the conscious mind. While actually the unconscious mind takes 95% of the decisions and has endless memory storage.
My name is Floor (they/them). I make drawings that I turn into murals, prints, tattoos and more. I’m always observing the world around me and lately have been using my practice to reflect on the quiet moments, small joys and rituals of everyday life. I love using big shapes, playing with negative space and combining colours. My aim is to make images that have a soothing and/or uplifting effect on the viewer.
Said Kinos (1988) is an artist who lives and works in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Through a background in graffiti and a bachelor degree in Graphic Design, Saïd developed a strong passion for typography and other forms of visual communication.
Saïd Kinos is fascinated by the ways in which people communicate through language, symbols and changing
technologies. The high speed in which information is presented to us, and with it the transience of our modern forms of communication, is a common denominator in all his work. Meanwhile, subjective associations and differing contexts can alter the reception of words and messages. In this, Saïd finds an element of abstraction which he explores through high-contrast, vibrant colour combinations and fragmented typography.
Taking visual elements from anywhere he can find and recomposing them in a way to make them his own, Saïd creates his own reconstructed versions of reality through paintings, sculptures installations, and large (public) murals. He has made various commissioned artworks for corporations as well as socials projects around the globe. His work is also part of various private-, corporate- and public collections.
My name is Klaas Lageweg (1978). As a visual artist, I create murals and paintings. Art is my means to function
autonomously in this society. Creating and developing causes me to experience conflict, euphoria, disappointment, and pride. In other words: paint keeps me going.`
I follow my instincts and intuition, so I get to turn my ideas into reality. My focus is always on the result. As I find inspiration in my day-to-day environment, my work generally contains an observational outlook. I am combining seemingly opposing forms, such as realism, pixel art, and abstractions. I specialize in creating an essence in the artwork. I am always pushing the boundaries. So, you would like a unique conversation piece on your wall? Made out of passion, stories, contrasts, and colors. Then enter and enjoy my painting at this exhibition 1×1 expo art’otel by Amsterdam.
